Through the help of four different case studies and related outcomes, the talk will roam around the idea of filtering History to produce stories and to merge a set of stories into major History. How, in relation to artistic production, the study of a specific context – whether an archive, a collective ritual or an underground music scene – can produce a set design for theatre or a film documentary or a script for a fiction film or a chair or a book or…?
Artist, film-maker and researcher lives and works in Maastricht (NL). His work is mainly oriented on storytelling, cultural apexes and the way traditions re-shape in new contexts. His research merges together fiction and historical facts. Using film, documentary, sound and scenography, Squillacciotti produces research-based investigations that revisits history, crafting new stories from subjective perspectives, storytelling, religion and popular culture.
